What a perfect card for someone taking a cruise. The black and white papers are from Doodlebug Designs and the red dot is one of my favourites from Daisy D's. The white velvet brads are also from Doodlebug Designs and are meant to be paired with the paper. The ship was cut from the Cricut "New Arrivals" cart. 
It's always challenging to make a special request card with a theme. This is a thank you for a cruise to Alaska, hence the polar bear. The paper was left over from many moons ago so I no longer remember whose paper it is but I think the combination of blue, green and white is always very striking. I love using fibres although I very often forget I have them in my drawers full of goodies. They are a nice alternative to ribbon. Thanks for looking - stay tuned tomorrow for another post.
I took a lovely trip today to a little town a couple of hours north of the city. It was a great day for a drive and everything was looking very green and summery. I did some shopping - some of it for Christmas - in some cute little stores they had in town but, sadly, the scrapbook store was no longer. Which is probably just as well for my pocketbook. 
Well, it's been raining literally all day so I thought I would take advantage and do some indoor work....meaning cards. I can't believe what a difference this summer is compared to last year when we had no rain and the grass was brown. Looking out my window, everything is nice and green and looking healthy. Having said that, it's hard to get out and enjoy activities when you are rained out but hopefully tomorrow will bring sunshine. 
I made up these cards for two friends who recently got promoted. The top is done with paper from K&Company and the stars are made from paper scraps I have kept from past projects and cut from Cricut "George" cartridge. I am always hesitant to throw out scraps, no matter how small, because they always seem to get used up. The bottom card is My Mind's Eye papers. All fibres are Basic Grey and the stitches and sentiments are rub-ons. 
Are the days getting shorter or am I just getting busier? I just seem to have way too many things to do and, before I know it, it's 11:00 p.m. Today, I ran around like crazy doing errands. With the price of gas, I try to plan my day so that all my stops are grouped together. With the huge stores like Walmart and Loblaws that seem to sell everything, it's getting easier to do one-stop shopping. I hadn't made any cards for a few days since work got in the way but I was able to get back at it tonight. I have had to put my heritage book on hold for a bit while I get some card orders done up.
Well, it was exactly five weeks ago today that my cat, Kona, ended up in the emergency vet. Wouldn't you know it but he is throwing up again today and I'm just debating whether to take him to the doctor. It started outside with him eating grass which he promptly threw up and now he is just laying there looking sick. 
Another day, another page of the scrapbook is done. I spent about 45 minutes yesterday at the drug store trying to figure out how to make copies of the old photos. It's quite easy once you get the hang of it; just a lot of fiddling around. Anyway, I was able to get a second page done for my heritage book. The lacey edges are all done with my Martha Stewart punch and I love the little stick on pearls at the top of the page. The colours in this are actually much richer in person but the camera seems to have taken some of the sparkle out of the image. I think it's time for a new camera....or a better photographer. I finally started work on my ancestry scrapbook. This is the first scrapbook page I have done as I normally make cards. Having said that, it's pretty well the same methodology for both except the scrapbook pages are done on a bigger surface. I thought I would start small - this book will be 8"x8". The page is made with papers from Hot Off the Press which are in a pad and all nicely matched to one another making it virtually impossible to screw up. I have been on a buying spree lately although I can't imagine why I need any more paper products of any type. I need to add the word "restraint" to my vocabulary.
This was made for a girl who just graduated high school. I vaguely remember that day....many moons ago. I love the colour combination in this card, set off by the gingham ribbon. The mortar board hat is an embellishment from Jolees and the stars and corners were cut from Cricut. I am off for a week now and have big plans to get stuff done. I still need to start work on my heritage scrapbook pages which seem to keep getting pushed to the back burner. Hope everyone had a happy Canada Day!
As nice as it is to send a personally made card, sympathy cards are always the hardest to make because there is so much sadness behind them. Hopefully, Bear's mom and dad find some comfort in a special memento of their beloved friend.
I always like making baby cards because the colours are so soft and pretty. This card uses K&Company papers which are neutral enough that they work for either a girl or a boy. The rattle is cut from Cricut "New Arrivals" and the ribbon is Anna Griffin silk. It's finished off with a little metal bootie and some rhinestones - pretty as a picture!
I am doing everything within my power today to procrastinate as I know a ton of cleaning awaits me. It seems like I just get things clean and the dirt settles again....so, really, why bother?
Talk about a storm! Those last night were pretty scary. It's bright and sunny this morning but I can see some dark clouds rolling in so I think we're in for another round today.
How pretty is this card done up in lace and ribbon! I purchased one of the Martha Stewart punches the other day and I just love the finished product. It reminds me of a lacy doily and the punch is so easy to use. The butterflies, corner edges and cutout are all done using Cricut "Home Accents" cartridge. I think I will get a lot of use out of this particular cartridge although it can be a bit fiddly trying to pry the cutouts from the paper when they are cut in the smaller sizes. I'm off to do my weekend errands - just hope the rain holds off til I'm done.
Finally, they are predicting some summer weather for us. After all this cold and rain, it's going to be a shock to the system. I'm ready for it though, with air conditioners in windows. And, I know, the first hot day we have everyone will be wishing it was cool again. I made this card for a very special birthday. The flower paper is Anna Griffin and the striped is Melissa Frances. I like that there are lots of fun edges and then the flower and bow to finish everything off. "Happy Birthday" was cut from Cricut "Beyond Birthdays". Stay cool!
What a busy weekend! It started out well yesterday with a viewing of "Sex and the City - the Movie" which was just as good as I had hoped. I thought the theatre would be packed so we got there plenty early but it was surprisingly (and thankfully) empty. I got home to find my cat, Kona, had thrown up about five times then started throwing up blood so we had to make a run to the emergency vet. Total cost - $20.00 for movie and snacks; $280.00 to spring Kona. Anyway, he is much better today and back to lazing outside in the sunshine while mom cleans windows. Kenya watched his video this morning so all is good again.
